Senator Josh Newman Elected Chair of the San Gabriel Valley Legislative Caucus
Sacramento, CA – Today, Senator Josh Newman (D-Fullerton) was elected Chair of the San Gabriel Valley Legislative Caucus. He will succeed outgoing Chair, Senator Ed Hernandez (D-West Covina) who will now serve as Vice-Chair.
“It is an honor to be elected Chair of the San Gabriel Valley Caucus. I have very big shoes to fill in carrying on the good work of Senator Ed Hernandez,” said Senator Newman. “The San Gabriel Valley faces some very unique challenges in the areas of water, transportation and the environment. I look forward to tackling those challenges head on in this new role.”
“Senator Newman is the type of leader who can put politics aside in order to focus on the issues that matter most,” said outgoing chair Senator Ed Hernandez. “The San Gabriel Valley will be represented well under his leadership.”
The San Gabriel Valley Legislative Caucus is made up of 12 Senators and Assemblymembers representing the greater San Gabriel Valley. The caucus works across party lines to bring to the attention of the full Legislature, issues of importance to the San Gabriel Valley and its residents. Those issues include groundwater treatment, improving transportation, and tackling imminent environmental threats like the Citrus Psyllid.
Senator Josh Newman represents the 29th Senate District, which includes cities across Orange, Los Angeles, and San Bernardino Counties. Senator Newman also represents several cities that are in the Valley including Walnut, Diamond Bar, Rowland Heights and West Covina.
