OCRegister: Veterans champion is ‘Woman of the Year’
Catherine Ward, interim director of Cal State Fullerton’s Veterans Resource Center, has been honored as state Sen. Josh Newman’s Woman of the Year.
Ward joined 38 other honorees from around the state who were recognized in the Senate chambers.
“To share this distinct recognition with such an incredible cohort of women, doing such important work in their respective fields, is empowering,” Ward said. “To represent CSU Fullerton today and female veterans throughout the state makes me especially proud.”
Ward has served CSUF’s veteran students since 2009, with a focus on improving the student veteran experience, promoting strengths and resiliency, and advocating on behalf of women veterans. The VRC was recognized as a Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Success by the U.S. Department of Education in 2010.
