To Marc Hanson, a treasured friend, husband, father and public servant. You will be forever loved and missed.
Heartbreaking to experience the very sudden and tragic loss of our friend, comrade and chief of staff Marc Hanson. It’s not often that the path of an average person’s life intersects with people who are truly exceptional — who bring fellowship and joy and purpose to everything they do, and in the doing so, raise the level of quality and enjoyment in doing big and important things, while making us all smarter and better people in the process. Marc was one of those exceptional people: truly and deeply committed to public service and blessed with an array of interests and gifts, who had a passion for living even as he continually worked to improve the lives of others.
For Marc to be taken from us — so suddenly, so sadly, and so heart-wrenchingly soon, so young and in the midst of a well-lived life, presents a pain and a puzzle that defies comprehension. We can take some solace, though, that for all of us who had the pleasure of knowing Marc, it was eminently clear he was doing work that he loved, while also basking in his joy of family, illuminated by a devotion to his wife Shaina and their two boys, Jasper and Enzo, a love which positively glowed when they were all together.
We should all be so energetic, so curious, so compassionate, so loyal, and so quintessentially decent as Marc, and we’re all just a little bit better for knowing him. Our hearts go out to Shaina, Jasper, Enzo, and to the rest of the Aber-Hanson family, who know that Marc loved them deeply and was deeply loved by so many. His memory will be treasured and he will be truly and forever missed.
