Senator Josh Newman Announces Committee Assignments for Upcoming Legislative Session

Sacramento, Calif. — State Senator Josh Newman (D-Fullerton) has been named Chair of the State Senate’s Special Committee on Pandemic Emergency Response as one of his committee assignments for the 2020-21 legislative session.

“I look forward to serving as Chair of the Special Committee on Pandemic Emergency Response to help California work through and ultimately recover fully from these challenging times,” said Senator Newman.

Senator Newman’s other assignments for the 2020-21 legislative session include the following legislative committees:

  • Budget and Fiscal Review
  • Budget Subcommittee #5 on Corrections, Public Safety, Judiciary, Labor and Transportation.
  • Business, Professions and Economic Development
  • Elections and Constitutional Amendments
  • Labor, Public Employment and Retirement
  • Military and Veterans Affairs
  • Transportation
  • Joint Legislative Committee on Emergency Management

State Senator Josh Newman represents the 29th Senate District, which is comprised of portions of Los Angeles County, Orange County and San Bernardino County. The 29th District includes all or parts of the cities of Anaheim, Brea, Buena Park, Chino Hills, City of Industry, Cypress, Diamond Bar, Fullerton, La Habra, La Palma, Placentia, Rowland Heights, Stanton, Walnut, West Covina and Yorba Linda. Senator Newman is a former United States Army officer, business person, and veterans’ advocate, and lives in Fullerton with his wife and daughter.
