On Feb. 23, State Senators Josh Newman (D-29) and Dave Min (D-37) co-hosted a town hall that featured three medical professionals who offered their perspectives on the pandemic. Both Sens. Min and Newman recounted their own experiences after testing positive for COVID-19. Min said that despite double-masking, he contracted the virus and developed symptoms four days into his ten-day quarantine period. He suffered intense abdominal pain and severe chills, and had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance.




SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Pharmacies have been overwhelmed with phone calls, drive-thru COVID-19 testing, vaccine distribution, and along with these pandemic stresses, many pharmacists have also had to worry about meeting business quotas.

Beginning today, Monday, February 1, Morningside retirement community residents and staff will roll up their sleeves once again to receive the second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. A 102-year-old resident will be among those receiving the vaccine.

The two mass vaccination sites announced by the federal government Wednesday, including one at Cal State Los Angeles, will provide COVID-19 vaccines to vulnerable communities and people with limited access to transportation — a move that would try to address problems for seniors who have struggled to get to sites around the country.

Gov. Gavin Newsom and the Biden administration announced Wednesday a pilot project to create community vaccination sites in Oakland and Los Angeles.

These sites, which will be based at the Oakland-Alameda Coliseum and California State University, Los Angeles, are part of an effort to establish 100 vaccination sites nationwide in the Biden administration's first 100 days. They will be co-run by FEMA and Cal OES.




The County of Orange Social Services Agency (SSA) announced today it will close its four open public assistance lobbies effective Tuesday, December 29, 2020. This change in operations is being made as a precautionary measure to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
