SB 1275 will address a loophole in existing California law that hinders the ability of law enforcement to effectively intervene in cases involving the solicitation of minors for prostitution.

Sacramento, Calif. — Senator Josh Newman (D-Fullerton) today introduced Senate Bill 1244 (SB 1244) to facilitate greater access to community college dual enrollment programs for high school students across California.

SB 1244 enhances the ability of school districts to collaborate with community colleges through College and Career Access Pathway (CCAP) programs, particularly in cases where other area local community college districts may be unable or unwilling to engage in such partnerships.

La Habra, Calif. —  On Monday the La Habra City Council voted unanimously to approve agreements with the Coyote Village Homeowners Association and the California Department of Water Resources enabling the $8.5 million secured by Senator Josh Newman (D-Fullerton) to be utilized for the repair of the collapsed storm channel within the Coyote Village condominium complex. Successive collapses during storms, beginning in 2019, caused a collapse and created a chasm spanning more than 500 feet, directly through the center of the complex, creating safety risks and severe financial challenges for the homeowners’ association.
