Each year, my team and I dedicate one week to visiting senior communities across the district. This year, we had the privilege of meeting and bringing resources to over 800 senior citizens in partnership with Assemblymember Robert Garcia, local organizations, and over a dozen senior centers. Through the San Bernardino Community Service Center, we were able to deliver fresh and shelf stable groceries. The County of San Bernardino Department of Aging and Wise and Healthy Aging were on hand with information about ombudsman and advocacy services they offer throughout the year. Assemblymember Garcia and I made sure attendees know how to reach out to our offices for support or ideas for future legislation. For a bit of fun, our staff served up ice cream or lunches, and we all spent time learning about issues unique to seniors.
