There’s nothing like being home
Hello, friends,
There’s nothing quite like being home in the Inland Empire. During the legislative recess, I’m grateful for the opportunity to spend more time in our communities, connecting with residents, local organizations, and the dedicated district staff who serve you every day.
There is so much happening across Senate District 29, and I’m excited to share some of it with you in this edition of my newsletter. From updates on our work in Sacramento to the inspiring people and organizations making a difference here at home, this month has been filled with reasons for optimism.
I recently had the privilege of swearing in a new class of Young Senators, whose enthusiasm and commitment to public service give me great hope for the future. My team and I have also had the honor of recognizing remarkable individuals and community organizations whose service is helping strengthen the Inland Empire each and every day.
I hope you'll take a few moments to read the updates below, celebrate the accomplishments of your neighbors, and learn about upcoming opportunities to connect with my office. As always, it is a privilege to serve you.
Love,
Eloise
Capitol Update: Progress in Sacramento
As the Legislature begins its summer recess, I'm grateful for the progress we've made on behalf of the Inland Empire and communities across California. Every vote, hearing, and amendment is guided by conversations with residents, businesses, educators, healthcare providers, workers, and local leaders throughout Senate District 29.
Seventeen of my legislative proposals have successfully passed their Assembly policy committees and continue moving through the legislative process. Together, these bills focus on improving transparency and accountability in government, protecting workers and consumers, expanding educational opportunities, strengthening public health and public safety, and improving quality of life for the people we serve. While there is still important work ahead before these measures reach the Governor's desk, I'm encouraged by the bipartisan collaboration that has helped move these proposals forward. You can learn more about my 2026 Legislative Package by visiting our Legislation Page.
The Legislature also approved California's 2026–27 State Budget after months of thoughtful discussion and difficult decisions and it has been signed by the Governor. While no budget is ever perfect, this one reflects our commitment to investing in the people and communities that make California strong. This budget preserves critical investments in education, healthcare, housing, workforce development, public safety, and cleaner transportation while maintaining the balanced approach needed to protect essential services. You can find my full statement on our Newsroom Page.
As Chair of the Senate Budget Subcommittee on Resources, Environmental Protection, and Energy, I was especially proud to help advance investments that support healthier communities and California's clean energy future. The agreement strengthens programs that help low- and middle-income Californians transition to cleaner vehicles, supports incentives for medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission trucks, and preserves funding for community-based air quality programs that reduce pollution in California's most overburdened communities. Together, these investments continue California's commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions while improving public health and expanding economic opportunity.
As we continue investing in California's future, I remain committed to ensuring these public dollars are spent transparently, responsibly, and in ways that deliver meaningful results for taxpayers. Discussions about the long-term structure of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund will continue when the Legislature reconvenes on August 3.
Whether here at home in the Inland Empire or in Sacramento, my priority remains the same: listening to our communities and working every day to improve quality of life for the people I have the privilege to serve. Thank you for the trust you place in me. It is an honor to represent you.
Community Connections
Summer is one of my favorite times of year because it gives me more opportunities to spend time in the communities I have the privilege to represent. Whether we're welcoming future leaders, celebrating neighbors who make a difference, or helping residents access new career opportunities, these moments remind me that public service is about people first.
Welcoming Our 2026–27 Young Senators
This month, I had the honor of swearing in a new class of Young Senators. Over the next year, these outstanding students will gain firsthand experience in public service, learn how state government works, and participate in projects that strengthen our communities.
Their curiosity, leadership, and passion for serving others give me great hope for the future of the Inland Empire. I hope you'll take a look at the photos and reel from this special day and join me in congratulating our newest Young Senators.
Celebrating Service Across the Inland Empire
This week, we hosted our first annual Summer Celebration of Service, recognizing individuals and organizations whose generosity, leadership, and commitment help make Senate District 29 a better place to live, work, and raise a family.
From volunteers and educators to nonprofit leaders and community partners, these honorees represent the very best of the Inland Empire. It was an evening filled with gratitude, inspiration, and a reminder that meaningful change happens when neighbors come together to serve one another.
