PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Inland Empire Immigration Rights Resources
(SAN BERNARDINO, CA) — Senator Eloise Gómez Reyes (D-Colton) launched a website to provide Inland Empire immigrant communities with free and confidential resources, including legal support, “Know Your Rights” workshops, and emergency hotlines. Constituents can also call the district office at (909) 888-5360 with questions and to be connected with resources.
“The increased and unprecedented federal activity in our neighborhoods has been terrifying, but I urge my immigrant friends and neighbors to stay safe, stay informed, and keep the peace during this period of unrest and uncertainty,” said Senator Reyes. “Please know that you belong here – and everyone has rights under the U.S. Constitution, no matter their immigration status. You are not alone.”
Since early June, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have waged an aggressive campaign to deport law abiding immigrants across Southern California. To stifle community protest of these actions, the federal government sent National Guard and Marine troops into Los Angeles County neighborhoods – without consulting Governor Newsom. Immigrant communities and organizations that support them are overwhelmed and unclear about how to navigate a hostile legal environment, how to keep their families together and safe, and whether they can go to work, school, or church.
The compilation of resources on Senator Reyes’ website reflects the vast range of organization that are mobilized and linking arms to support Inland Empire communities at this time.
