Upper House Updates: The Reyes Rewind Senate Edition
Welcome to the April edition of our monthly newsletter. Here we will provide you with resources and important updates regarding our work in Sacramento and across the Inland Empire community!
In the Capitol
New Legislation Introduced
In Sacramento, our team is busy working on legislation that will have a meaningful impact on the Inland Empire. Earlier this year, I introduced 17 different proposals that will provide more resources to our students, support our small businesses with contracting opportunities, and ensure employees are notified of their rights in the workplace.
One bill I would like to highlight is SB 800, which we introduced in partnership with the city of Rancho Cucamonga. In response to the deaths of two Los Osos High School students last year, SB 800 creates a program to install suicide deterrents specifically on the 10 freeway overpasses in San Bernardino. Together, we can continue making impactful changes in our community.

Knows Your Rights Webinar
During challenging times, it is more important than ever to come together to provide critical information to our community. That is why we brought together key stakeholders including the Attorney General’s Office, the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights, and elected officials across the Inland Empire to host a Know Your Rights webinar to serve our community.
Information from trusted partners is the greatest counter we have to misinformation and I am proud that this webinar provided critical information and resources to our community.
If you missed this webinar you can view it in its entirety here. In addition, please do not hesitate to contact my office over fliers and hand held cards in multiple languages that outline California, federal, and constitutional protections in place for all Californians.
Woman of the Year Celebration
Every year since 2017 during the month of March it has been my honor to recognize the incredible women in our community. This year, we continued that tradition by hosting our 9th Annual Women of Distinction Luncheon for the first time as your Senator! We received hundreds of nominations across multiple fields including public service, health care, business, and advocacy and ultimately honored 25 individuals at this event
In addition, each year we honor our Woman of the Year and this year we selected Ana Gonzalez, Executive Director of the Center for Community Action and Environmental Justice. Ana has long been a champion for public health and environmental quality across the Inland Empire. As our District 29 Woman of the Year, she was honored by the California Legislative Women’s Caucus on March 10th for her commitment to the Inland Empire. Congratulations Ana!
