Building on Progress: Legislative Updates, Resources, and Opportunities
Hello, friends,
Click on thumbnail to watch Senator Reyes' Swearing-In Ceremony
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Community Swearing-In and State of the District event in February. It was a powerful reminder of what makes the Inland Empire so special — a community rooted in resilience, partnership, and a shared commitment to progress.
That day wasn’t just a celebration of the work we’ve done — it was a reflection of what’s possible when we lead together. From infrastructure and public safety investments to expanding opportunity for students and families, every step forward has been shaped by your voices, your stories, and your trust.
To bring that progress to life, we unveiled this video highlighting our work to responsibly address warehouse expansion in the Inland Empire.
I am deeply grateful — and even more energized for the work ahead.
To explore more of what we’ve accomplished together, I encourage you to visit our Pieces of Progress and Legislation pages on my website.
In this edition, you’ll find updates on my 2026 Legislative Package, resources available to help you file your taxes, and scholarship opportunities for students across our district. Each of these reflects our continued focus on delivering results and expanding opportunity across the Inland Empire.
Love,
Eloise
Capitol Update: Advancing Our Legislative Priorities
It’s a busy time of year in Sacramento — from bill amendment deadlines to policy and budget hearings, and advocacy visits at the Capitol. For a glimpse into that pace, take a look at a fun video my team put together.
As the legislative session continues, I’ve been working to strengthen key pieces of legislation that reflect our shared values and priorities.
I recently announced amendments to SB 873 – Kick ICE Out of Courts, further clarifying expectations for federal immigration enforcement near courthouses. These updates reinforce the requirement for a valid judicial warrant and clear identification by agents before any arrest within 1,000 feet of a courthouse — helping ensure that all Californians can safely access our justice system without fear or disruption.
I have also advanced amendments to SB 1075 – the Clean Air Promise Act — strengthening enforcement of California’s landmark community air protection framework. These updates focus on accountability, coordination, and ensuring that local decisions align with community-driven plans to reduce pollution in the areas most impacted.
To stay up to date on these bills and the full 2026 Legislative Package, I encourage you to visit the Legislation page on our website and follow along as this work moves forward.
District Update: Public Service in Action
Back in the Inland Empire, our district team continues to create opportunities that connect people with resources and pathways to leadership.
Two recent events stood out as powerful examples:
- Tacos and Taxes, where constituents received free tax preparation services through partnerships with nonprofit and government organizations — helping families access critical financial support during tax season.
- State Boards and Commissions Appointments Workshop, which encouraged residents to explore leadership opportunities through appointments at the state level. Increasing Inland Empire representation on these boards and commissions is essential — our communities deserve a seat at every table where decisions are made.
- Our district team doesn’t just serve adult constituents — we also participate in community events like Read Across America! I’m incredibly grateful to our district staff and community partners who make these events possible. One More Thing: Scholarship Opportunity for IE Students
Applications are now open for the California Latino Legislative Caucus Foundation Scholarship, a valuable opportunity for students across our region to receive financial support for college. The deadline is June 1 at 5:00pm.
I strongly encourage our Inland Empire students to apply. Investing in your education is an investment in the future of our entire community — and we are proud to support you every step of the way.
Thank you, as always, for being engaged, informed, and committed to building a stronger Inland Empire.
